    90th Birthday Camp Ideas

So... It's the cubs 90th Birthday this year and to celebrate our next camp (Pack holiday) will be themed around this birthday party. I was just wondering if there were any tried and tested ideas, and how other groups had tackeled this.

Have you done cub scouting through the ages?... Or a Birthday party type celebration?...Is it possibly to make it a weekend long party?...What kinda things did you include?...Any lessons learnt?...

If anybody has tried the 'cubs throught he ages thing' what sort of things did you do for that?...I had a thought about bringingin back ration books and other old stuff...any history themed games?..

As normal I know i'll get osme good replies so thanks in advance sorry there are so many questions, but you know me, if I don't ask then I wont get!

I restled with this problem for the Scottish Cubs 90th Big Birthday Bash. We were originally just going with the theme 'birthday' but after a few meetings the organising committee decided that each subcamp (there is 500 Cubs) should have its own theme

So yes the Birthday is the main theme, but each subcamp has its own theme:

    Wizzards & Witches
    Circus
    Space
    Cowboys and Indians
    Pirates

We are having a party and tonnes of cake on the Saturday Night, but its difficult to see how that will keep you going all weekend, without another theme!

I was on the same camp as Penny and is what a really special weekend, with the end being a birthday cake and everyone singing happy birthday.

The big top and circus skills was really great, mainly I liked it becuase it was so blooming hot and it was the only shade.

What about a step back in time camp, this is what our Scouts are doing this year, it was going to be next year. But with lots of organised camps planned we thought we would do it this year instead.

Good luck with what ever you decide, I am sure the cubs will enjoy it.

Hi everyone. I just got an email telling me that Cub Scouts are being challenged to put together photo albums as part of the birthday celebrations so I would like to offer my help. I can teach about scrapbooking and safe photo storage and provide acid and lignin free albums and products so that photos are preserved for generations as most modern albums contain acid which destroys photos over time. Feel free to email me.

    With thanks

Well, we got back from our 90th Birthday camp (pack holiday) today and I just wanted to let everyone know it was a BRILLIANT weekend, the cubs loved all the celebrations and there was a real 'energy' about the place all the time.

We did tons of games, made our decorations, popped hundreds of balloons and had a brillaint time, probably one of my best camps every. It really goes to show how a little imagination and a lot of aplanning can really lead to a sper success.
