As for the 4am / 8am debate, we are having a small celebration at 4.00am for anyone mad enough to get up (called the jimjamboree) and then the main one at 8.00am.

I believe our group are hoping to watch the sun set on the last day of our centenary and watch the sun rise on the first day of our new centenary renewing the promise at 8am

That sounds like a great idea. I may well pinch that. What time is sunset at that time of year?

As it's so nearby and easy to access, we're having our sunrise ceremony on the beach! As for the 8am thing.. Well, we're doing that of course, but we've been given the option to get down there at (wait for it..) 2am! I all honesty, I have no idea how we're going to stay amused on a freezing cold beach for 6 hours, but being the nutty bunch that we are, I can guarantee the majority of us will be there xD

In Exeter we're camping on the cathedral green, getting up for the sunrise, and then renewing the promise at 8am.

And then the day shall be spent on the cathedral green in a big public awareness/recruitment event

What format will your Scouting Sunrise ceromoney take?

Lots of great places for the Sunrise ceromoney, but I was wondering what format most events will take; I know we will renew our promise at 8am local time here in New Zealand, will be at Caroline Bay, local iconic site.

But unsure what else we will do, what about a including specail breakfest etc.

We are looking to have a complete package, interested to hear what format your events will take, how will they start , what will be the programme.

Caroline Bay sounds fantastic. Was that picked because of the area or because a lot of people will see you?

Our site was probably selected on the basis that's it's really the only place available.

Talking of the Centenary, you've got a private message waiting!

My District haven't decided yet. They were going to stand in the High Street but that wasn't popular with everyone (bit boring to be honest). Hopefully we'll come up with a more interesting event in time.
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?

We are going to be at our Summer Camp, we plan to be up around 2.00am, and to be hiking through sunrise to be back on site for breakfast and Scouts Own at 8am, however we also plan to celebrate the first sunrise the night before at 8pm and the last one at 6pm on the 1st with a campfire inviting parents and former members of our group.

We were originally going to camp for a week, with Beavers coming for a sleepover. It has gotten shorter and shorter, so now we are down to 36 hours. We've decided to hold our own camp on a greenfield site, and go to the County event on the morning of 1st Aug. This isn't going to work for the Beavers though, so I now need to camp in one place until 31st Jan, then head over to Mallory Park to meet the Beavers, hold a family sleepover, and head back to the greenfield site on evening of 1st August. What a farce.
