    2007 Media Coverage discussion

Well the coverage of our Centenary has well and truly started. If anyone sees anything, perhaps they could link to it from here.

I'll start the ball rolling with this from Wales's Western Mail...

I had something like that in the pipeline, but seeing it has made mine look awful, so I might have to start again!

I've contacted Hertfordshire Life, our glossy county magazine who are going to try a squeeze a feature about our Beaver Colony and the centenary in so y'all could try that (except Herts Scouters obviously!!).

Also, investigate your towns website if it has one. I've hopefully got a homepage piece on the centenary celebrations in my town going on soon. i'll post back when it's on.

There was a bit about the Centenary on our local news tonight (BBC) we are in the South and so get Brownsea Island! The new building was delivered today and was the weather foul for it! A nice soundbite from the Brownsea commissioner and the presenters then reminisced about being a Guide and Scout respectively - both positive and remembering lots of fun!

    Well Done Graham!

Also, 'When We Were Scouts' is due to be aired again (if you can bear to watch it) on BBC 2 at 8:10pm on Saturday 13th.

Edit: Sorry, just seen I'm now the third person to post this. I hadn't seen the other topic when I posted this. Sorry!

There have been a couple of stories about balloon launches in our local paper. This evening was our groups first meeting of 2007, so ~100 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and leaders got together. We had a photographer from the local paper taking shots of our necker presentation... The presentation was fantastic. We created a spiral of people, starting with the beavers in the middle, right out to the leaders. The photographer caught the first beaver presenting a necker to the beaver behind him, then it went around the spiral (Probably took 5-10 minutes) and then eventually got to our beaver leader (My old man) who walked in to the centre and presented one last beaver with his 2007 necker. Very cool!

Hopefully we'll get some good shots and a half decent story in the paper soon.

The feature I mentioned earlier is no longer the lead on our town's website but still has a link. This is the full article link http://www.wareonline.co.uk/news/article.asp?id=390

In the actual printed paper we got a half page spread which included the story above and an inset with a photo of one of our Beavers receiving his 2007 necker, as well as a half decent story.

I'll scan in the page later.

There is a nice two page spread in the National Trust magazine all about Brownsea Island, came through my door on Monday!

If anyone wants a copy I am happy to email it out as a pdf file....

Also there are a couple of nice photos of 9th Lymington Sea Scouts meeting BP in the 1930's on display at St Barbe museum until the 24th Feb in Lymington - if anyone is in the area!
