    Pulling Up Ceremony

What does your pack do to 'pull up' Beavers into your Cub pack?

For ours we get the Beavers to form a long tunnel of arches (pairs of Beavers holding hands up high). The new Cub lies down on the floor at one end of the tunnel with a rope tied around his body. At the other end of the tunnel/rope the Cub Leaders and/or Cubs pull on the rope and drag the new Cub through the tunnel. The Beavers / new Cubs love it and it helps to keep the floor clean.

We have a swimming up ceremony, if you would like to see how we do it, I have some pictures of me swimming up, as I have gone from ABSL to ACSL within the last month.

We have a gopak table and drape the Beaver flag at one end, and the Cub flag at the other.

the Beaver (ahem), goes under the table and puts on his/her cub top on

and then comes out the other end to be welcomed by Akela

Whose shirt wouldn't be out after creeping under that table?

All females are allowed their shirts out at our group.. its more flattering to those with ample hips

Anyone have any ceremonies for moving from cubs to scouts? We don't although the cubs do a goodbye ceremony

    (sorry for going OT)
I agree! Especially if wearing the lovely uniform trousers....

    And On-Topic (I'm a now a Cub YL)
we don't seem to have a particular ceremony, other than making the promise... but the crawling under the table does look fun

Cubs to Scouts - Our Cubs have a fun last night at Cubs and then at Scouts if they are from our Cub Pack, they are brought to the front by their Patrol Leader to Akela who asks if they are ready to become a Scout (hopefully they say yes!), she then presents their Moving On Award and any outstanding badges. The Patrol leader then escorts them upstairs to the Leaders Room where they get changed into their Scout Uniform, (Akela then dishes the 'dirt' on them) they are then lowered by Bosuns Chair back down, lowered by Scouts, Explorers pipe them aboard. They walk down to me and I invest them. Cubs from other packs don't get the Bosun Chair, and I am trying to encourage other Akela's to come and join in.

3rd Ware use a beaver lodge made from an old blanket supported by 2 broom handles

Beaver goes under and changes into cub top then comes out as a Cub.

We also have a long piece of blue fabric that is a "river" laid out like a red carpet up to the beaver lodge.

it wouldn't be good if you had any scouts around! they (i assume) have to have their shirts tucked in so if some leaders have them tucked out then they will argue that case!

then again may not be a problem! could just be different local things but every local leader i talk to will always have a tucked in shirt with uniform if they are on an official thing!
