Excellent Farnham/Godalming/Haslemere joint camp, Friday to Sunday afternoon. Rumours of 900 on site. Some great activities, weather was on and off drizzle Saturday, with quite a stiff wind on the activity field, then it rained properly from about 10pm Saturday night until, well, it was still raining when we left. It only stopped on Sunday long enough for me to take my coat off, put it down, and walk to the other side of the campsite. ; )

My weekend consisted of about 5 hours car parking, 7 hours washing up supervision (no, that's the RINSING BOWL, oh too late...AGAIN), 4 hours on activity base, 1 hour wanding round the other activities, 4 hours sitting round the campfire, 2 hours wishing all the cubs and scouts would go back to sleep (4:30am I ask you!), and about 1/2 an hour with my Explorers.

My Explorers spent about 30 hours with 6 of them loafing in a 3 man tent, as far as I can make out. ; )

Didn't get the howling tent destroying winds during the camp, but some groups left their tents up to be taken down Monday, sandy soil meant that some groups may well have lost tents.

Great camp for all in Central Yorkshire. Some minor grumbles and politics, and the grounding of PDs helicopter meant we didn't see him but everyone had a fantastic time.

We had around 2500 members camping plus about another 1000 day visitors.

Was back last night but didn't spot this thread!

Not quite - I couldn't go gliding because I injured my back and the weather was a pig!

But I did play with the band on the Sunday so that was OK

Well I have to say I'm delighted about how our camp went. Whetherwise as some others have said Scotland done very well.

Midlothian had a spot of rain on Saturday, and a fair bit on Sunday morning. It was also really cold on Friday night. Otherwise it was Sunny, and the underfoot conditions were great.

I have promised myself that I won't organise a large camp for a while, mind you!

    Torridge District Camp - Devon

    Hi all,

Had 300+ on our District camp this weekend, weather was great until Sat night, then gales and rain (and one wrecked marquee). Closed camp early on Sunday, left tents up, spent yesterday from 7.30am to 6.30pm taking down now dry tents and sorting kit. Haven't touched our own kit yet!

Having said that, all involved had a great weekend, 20 activity bases and an open air gang show on Sat eve which was heard in the town 2 miles away! Had all ages from 6-70+, as well as local Guides & Brownies.

Next on the plan is a district Adults camp - for a well earned rest I think!
