    Well that's me back

I'm just sitting down to my G&T after organising our centenary camp. 100 cubs & 100 scouts & 100 beavers. We had a brilliant time even though it has poured with rain today.

Now I'm looking forward to a childless break in Koln over next weekend.

    How has other people's gone?

Am I reading 300 kids? I was impressed with our 80+! Had a good turnout from our colony for the Saturday and the rain held off just enough for them.

I managed to stay the night and so was happy and we got a good shot of everyone standing in front of a blowing Union flag.

I will admit I'm glad it's a hundred years until the next one.

Well done! Rather you then me - where having about 60 on our group camp so compared to yours its going to be a doddle!

It chucked it down this afternoon, just when I was outside - was at a cristening today.

Koln is a nice place to visit - the cathedral is MASSIVE! I visited there about 6 years ago.

Well done Salley - enjoy your child free weekend in Koln. I visited the cathedral on a school exchange, although it was a little more than 6 years ago!

Our camp was OK yesterday - we went for the day and had a great time. A fab display of Birds of Prey in action.

I don't know how the poor souls over there will have coped today,as it has rained incessantly since last night.

Ours ended this morning and went really well, about 300 camping plus about 100 Beavers for the day yesterday.

Luckily the rain held off last night until after the camp fire and fireworks, but soggy all round this morning!

Local paper came along so await the results.

Only had 2 ambulances.........luckily nothing major. One Cub was having so much fun he came back after being diagnosed with a broken wrist - even though he had to go back this morning to have it set!

Well I'm sitting in my car with the rain still coming down (harder than ever). Beavers now gone home (all very wet and dirty after It's a knockout) and getting ready for another cold wet night. So far all the campers are keeping dry in their tents Looking forwards to tomorrow to getting loads of wet marquees down and having the worry about how to get them all dry. Still a "Daves" coffee is awaiting in the admin tent so I'm off once more in to the breach. Should be home torrow PM.

I'm back - my first camp with my group since I have been a leader with them

We had a camp with a global awareness theme, there were games involving newspaper islands, the cubs made bird feeders - which are hanging on most of the trees on the campsite, each group also had a compost bucket.

Lots of activities for the cubs - they certainly enjoyed themselves

I couldn't go to our camp for various reasons, but hubby and son are there. They are in Sennelager, Germany.
The bus trip to get there was supposed to be 4 hours arriving at 2300 on Friday, instead they arrived at 0130. This is beavers cubs and scouts. They did great activities during the day all laid on by the airforce.
Then on Saturday night the airforce evacuated them to the aircraft hangars at 01.30hrs due to a severe storm in the area. A campsite 20km away was completely flattened. Cubs were apparently really excited to be able to share the hangar with a plane. Im looking forward to seeing the photos.
Im told our tents all survived and the kids are dead on their feet after another full day of activities.
    They arrive home this evening.
Meanwhile my daughter is doing a DofE silver practice expedition.. wet, wet, wet. Havent been called to evacuate them yet so it must be ok?

Haven't had a night like last night for years Up most of the night trying to keep water out of tents. We finished the camp early so everything is down apart from the marquees which we have had permission to leave up for a while. Just come out of a super hot bath Now got to go shopping for a tumbler drier as that has decided to give up the ghost.

I've toured 10 camps this weekend - from sunshine to downpours.

West Yorkshire had over 2000 members out and about this weekend.

Well done to everybody up and down the UK for the dedication and energy you've put into the camps.
