    Annual appraisals

As a relatively new Beaver leader (2 years actually but seems less) I have had little contact with anyone from the District apart from other Beaver Leaders at group activities.

Is there not a requirement for you someone to chat to you at least once a year (though more often would be better) to ensure that you are running the colony OK and have done all the required training?

Your Group Scout Leader (GSL) is your Scouting line manager and should be keeping an eye on the sort of things you have raised

I think the annual review is one of those scouting things that looks good on paper but rarely happens in practise. I've been a Leader for almost five years and have never had a review by either my GSL (either of them) or by my ADC (either of them). I'm not aware of anyone in our Group that has.
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?

As a newish leader who is still training you should also have a TA (training advisor) and be reviewing progrss with them at whatever interval seems appropriate. The idea is you discuss a completion date for the modules you are working on when you do your PLP.
They should be available to speak to about any issues you may have
Obviously as someone has already said the GSL is there too.

Having said that TA's are often spread too thinly, so the system doesn't work as it should on paper.
