How are Nights Away Badges worn?

Are Nights Away Badges cumulative (keep adding additional badges to the shirt as they are awarded), or is the old one taken off and replaced with the new one?

The reason I ask is that I'm currently sorting out a backlog of badges for our Troop. I've worked out that some of our Scouts have over 20 Nights Away - should I award just the 20 Nights Away badge, or should I give them the 1, 5 and 10 as well?

    Thanks in advance.

The old one is taken off and replaced with the new one, they could however put the ones in the middle onto their camp blanket.

I would only issue the last badge they qualified for.

If they want the ones that came before I would allow them to buy it.

I would be inclined to agree with this too, having thought about it a bit, as issuing the ones that came before may cause confusion with the parents.

We have just gone through the same thing with the participation badges. Had wwe awarded all the previous ones I think our Treasurer would hae had an apopolexy! We have only issued the current badge but told them if they want to buy the previous ones we would subsidise them.

I issued about 16 of these in March and only had two queries as to why there was a difference of more than one between the last ones. I gave the reason that I may have done the badges slightly differently - used date joined scouting rather than investiture and also was not too sure which ones had been issued last so it was a catch up exercise. Didn't have anyone ask for the missing ones though!

Some parents do get confused by the slightest thing where badges are concerned. Some of my Cubs have more than one badge on, but I make sure that when they go up to Scouts, they only wear the highest value badge.

I realise that is wrong, but other than picking it off the Cub's arm at a meeting, sometimes you have to live with the minor things.
