    [Answered] Promise to my country

Firstly can I say thank you for taking the time to answer questions, and for being so great with the young people you meet. Have met several who have met you (Malawi) and you were definately a big hit!

I'd like to know what you think about the fact that non British Scouters living in the UK are able to adapt the Promise (to insert country instead of Queen) and whether you think people like me (who are British and living in the UK) will ever be able to become full Members by making a similar Promise?

I fully support the purpose of Scouting and have been involved for several years. I just can't get my head around the fact that two people, living in the same country with the same aims in mind and delivering great Scouting can't have the same choice of Promise wording.

    Louise,

Personally I'm very relaxed about this. I'm sure if you said country the world would keep spinning, as Kahil Gibran said "the more rules and restrictions there are the more devious people become"
