    After Ecamp

For those who came I thank you all. It was a great opportunity to chat to fellow Scouter's from across the UK and apart from the travelling (Trevor and Richard thanks for the extra effort) overall a relaxing weekend.

For those who didn't make it for whatever reason the good news is Ecamp 2009 will happen. Obviously dates/location to be confirmed but June was mentioned. (We will get warm!!)

So if any one has any ideas as to location some where in the middle of the UK and any reason weekends in June aren't available (we might even consider extending the camp by a day).

Any of those would be good - unless you wanted to come to Leicestershire and Willesley

Well after sadly having to miss out this year I certainly hope I can make next year's Ecamp. June sounds like a good time of year for me although any other year April would have been fine as well.

1st Choice would be Northern Ireland, the chance of all you people coming over here, not good
2nd Choice would be Bonnie Scotland, would save Richard's long drive
3rd Choice, anywhere close to an airport.

Willesley Campsite is about 12 miles from East Midlands Airport, and I'm sure we could sort out a personal taxi again

I'm liking the sound of all the places suggested so far... with the exception of Walesby they're all within running distance of my uni house in Staffordshire or my home in Leicestershire!

Hesley Wood in South Yorkshire is by far one of the best campsites in the UK, in my opinion.

I understand where you are coming from but when I camped there (in 1994!) the toilet cleaning left a lot to be desired!

The indoor accommodation as Hesley Wood is huge, easily sleeps 40, and the Fellowship cabin sleeps a smaller number, but it is really easy to get too, even for those coming from the south, less than a mile from the M1!

Well there was a hint in the video

    • I think the reality is that it will be mid England somewhere, though not necessarilly central, perhaps a coast
    • Indoors as an option to me is very desirable
    • Electricity would be good
    • I like Dave's idea of Extending it a day, as its quite a journey for some and for only 1 and 3/4 days in my case
    • I would suggest if we were to extend the time, we would have to have a more structured programme in places.
    • Time of year is one thing, and you can't suit everyone. Sometimes it reallly depends on peoples availability (and their families)
    Just a few thoughts

    Some good ideas there Richard,

Ideally we need indoor accomodation with either a phone point/broadband on tap The idea of being near the coast is interesting. I think I'll keep to the extra day as with Richard most of my weekend was travelling. Hopefully next year we will get more Escouters to join us as June should be a better time of year for us and a structured programme will be more easily implemented. (although I do like the very informal relaxed way we have run the last two, but maybe just a little too much)
