Active Support Team website

Can people help with this? If it works, it'll be useful for other Scout Areas, Districts etc, and of course you'll be welcome to use it yourself!

Have a look at www.clwydscouts.org.uk/ast - files attached.

People enter details of requests for an extra pair of hands on a meeting night. This help will be provided by Fellowship, Young Leaders and other adults - together branded the Active Support Team. It just needs people to administer it and for this I need an easy to use system.

What I need is, instead of the form sending the data as an email, as it does at the moment, it'd be better being collated together and visible on a live webpage for administrators to be able to pick up requests as they come in (sorted by date when the help is needed), and indicate who they've been allocated to. Requests would be automatically deleted when they have passed.

Entry to this webpage would only be by username/password.

Can this be done, if so, how!

I see this as an exciting opportunity to make better use of adults and Young Leaders who can only give occasional help, it just needs a foolproof system to administer it!

Thanks in advance.

(The attached files should be .php - but it would only allow .txt)

Like the idea.

My only thoughts on the form is replace the date entry bit with a calendar control. Its too fussy to have to enter all the bits separately, also it gives the scope for picking the wrong day to go with the date.
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?

OK, can do that. The point of entering the day was just to make it quick and easy without need to consult a calendar.

What about how it's done though. At the moment I only have the front end. I need the data to go somewhere!!!

do you have any knowledge of php? that would be the easiest way to do it...have the form enter the info into a database, then the admin index will display all the applications, then another page to add people to help out.

if you don't have knowledge of php, unless someone with some free time comes out (not me unfortunatly!) you would be best to have it emailed still and have the person it is emailed too organise an update email every month/week?

also, i would put some form of protection onto the form so that you don't get spam!

I have hardly any knowledge of PHP unfortunately. I'm trying (very trying I know) to learn, but I'm not up to this at the moment.

Does anyone know of any website communities where people may have time and be willing to do some coding for this for me?

I'd be happy to take a look at it for you over the weekend if you want.

Sounds a brilliant idea.
