I think he is probably suffering from end of term blues.

Everyone is waiting for the new Chief Scout to be announced, the old one is waiting by the door with his coat on. Like most things when you're leaving you know you're not really able to influence anything any more so you just wait quietly and don't upset anybody or anything.

He's answered most of them - out of 29 there are 8 not answered which isn't too bad considering he is probably quite busy.

I didn't ask one as I couldn't think of anything to ask.

It will be interesting to see if he continues with volunteering in Scouting in any particular way, I do hope so. The only thing I have picked up from his answers is that while they seem particularly non-controversial - as I would have expected, but that he didn't always seem to answer the question that was asked. However full credit to PD for actually finding the time to answer in the first place!

I'm impressed that he bothered to come on here at all. He has a family as well as fulfilling the Chief Scout role amongs other things that keep him busy. He didn't have to come on here and answer questions, so he has my full respect for that.

many of the questions seem to have been a sort of personal one from one person to him, so its no wonder there is little side discussion. I do think that some of the answers are a little cryptic, but it also seems to be a little insight to how he has thought about the questions!

I think to many people are sitting on the fence. His questions were simple and yes some personal but probably written for hin by HQ they were so bland. As for working hard and being busy with a family and fulfilling a scout role or two. well don't ya just love it.

Sorry for that but my goodness, what do you think the rest of us do. But as you say, fair play to the guy for coming on, but was it worth it?

I think so, it is a way of keeping in touch. Just because he hasn't answered all of the questions yet doesn't mean he isn't watching what is going on! IIRC he is in Panto at the moment - as I am sure Dramatist will confirm that is a tiring time even if they do enjoy it immensely.

I could be wrong but weren't all the unanswered questions posted after Richard put a sticky on to say no more questions please which was on the 12.10.08? That would explain why some questions were not answered.

I thought PD's reply re uniform in particular was well put and definitely reflected my views. This subject did of course generate a very healthy thread whereas perhaps other questions and answers didn't warrant the same level of discussion?

The 12/10 was when the original sticky was posted saying that PD would be answering questions. The no more questions was posted in the middle of November IIRC. Mine is one of the unanswered ones ;(. But I can wait

I would say that Peter made me aware of a technical problem he had when answering questions, which told him how to fix.

Whether or not he gets around to the others, I'm really grateful that he has spent the time to answer the questions on Escouts, twice now.

Lets hope the next Chief Scout continues the tradition

That is certainly no Wishee-Washee excuse! (I could tell plenty of stories - but another thread another time!).
