    Beavers at easter camp

    Hey beaver leaders out there,

so our beavers are going to visit cubs at easter camp this year for a half day.
this will be the beavers' first ever visit to a camp.

any ideas on beaver friendly activities to do?

Well think: outdoors, explore, crafts, games, getting wet - look for activities with one or more of those components and with beavers, you are on to a winner!

How about putting up a tent? Exploring, nature trail, cooking sausages under supervision.

Putting up a tent and doing an obstacle course (often constructed by the Scouts/Explorers) are two of the fairly standard things we do when our Beavers visit camp

    Cover a tent in glitter!

Er, seriously, anything to do with a fire and cooking something 'Backwoodsy' (Sausages, Twists, etc) is always a winner!

Treasure hunt, e.g. find something soft, something hard, something rough, something smooth etc. Give them all a small empty matchbox and say everything has to fit it there
Build animal shelter - get them to collect sticks and make a small animal shelter, then cover it in leaves - instant animal home!
Makes a walk through the wood a bit more interesting for them This is assuming you have a wood to go in mind you!

Those are all great ideas, try and get a joint activity with the Cubs though. That way you are building links and friendships and when the Beavers go up to Cubs it's a little less scary cus they've met some of them before.

    hi bubbles
you didnt say if the cub camp was being themed if so why not link in to the cub program it will give the beavers an experience of what cubs do at camp they could be split into the sixes and work with them. My beaver section has been on camp visits and ran with the cub program and then we also have been on camp for themselves where beavers, cubs and scouts have run their own program with the same theme just more advanced. If your cubs are near woods taking the beavers for a walk and do bark rubbing is a bit of fun especially when they try to do the really rough ones. Or on your walk do a stop and listen get the beavers to be really quiet and listen for any animal sounds. Get older cubs or scouts if on the camp to do a trail for the beavers to follow leaving clues in a bag to help them on their way or maybe something to pick up and bring back. design bubble blowers get them to bring a wire coat hanger and with leaders help transform it into really large bubble blowers they will have loads of fun and maybe a bit wet just make sure the cubs dont need their washing up bowls for a while any excuse to get out of washing up haha.
